FIRST EVER VICTORY in Royal London Club Championship for the First XI
Buckingham Town 1st XI triumphed in a close contest against Ealing Cricket Club in Round 1 of the Royal London Club Championship. In a rain affected match reduced to 15 overs per side Town batted first and posted a total of 104-2 with Harvey Eltham (23) and Ewan Cox (28) giving good support to Michael Wells (43no). Ealing’s target was adjusted to 138 via the DLS system and despite some big hitting the visitors fell 9 runs short. Sri Lankan test bowler Lahiru Gamage’s contribution of 2-14 from 3 overs proved the turning point but all the Buckingham bowlers excelled. Round 2 of the competition will see Town play Sunbury CC.
